There's a new bird in the flock at the Woodlands Nature Station! (Spoiler alert, its not John) This 2.5lb 6-month old male red-tailed hawk came to us from an In...diana State park that rehabilitates injured and orphaned raptors. He was found by himself as a chick, orphaned, raised at the center, then released into a remote area. Unfortunately, he found himself going back to humans whenever he got hungry. A neighbor to the park called the raptor center and said she had a hawk trying to perch on her head! The center quickly responded and he had to be found a more "forever" home, as he was deemed non-releasable. He replaces our 33-year old female red-tailed hawk, Red, who died of natural causes in June. Stay tuned to our Facebook for a chance to help name him in December. We can't wait for you to see him in March 2021!
