The campsite is now closed We have not taken this decision lightly but cannot keep open due to the risks of the virus spreading. We do not want to help spread the virus across the UK and urge people to stay home and wait it out. Please stay safe and we hope to see you in the future when this is over.... I had the slate trail book for Christmas, so we have never done anything like this, I planned 2 day walk from Bangor to Talymignedd Campsite Nantlle (excellent... campsite well worth staying, facilities 2nd to none) We camped at Talymignedd on Saturday , left our van there, walked 30 minutes to the school and caught bus to Canaerfon and then 5C bus from Canaerfon to Bangor( bus driver really helpful told us where to get off.). Walk was excellent we did 16 miles first day and camped other side of above Llanberris after stopping for tea in Llanberris. (My gps miles were different to book). Views of mountains were superb and of the slate industries. 2nd day, walked via Waunfawr Fawr and then onto Y Fron (excellent breakfast in the community cafe, they are currently only open from Thursday-Monday, cafe is around the back so don’t be put off if centre looks closed). Dorothy quarry is well worth spending time looking around. Glad of the rest when back at Nantlle. (GPS stated 28 miles)After a couple of days rest we did the short hop to Rhyd Du, great walk and the only pub there did great food, we will be back there to stay to start the next part of the slate trail. Too top it off we did not see a soul until we met up with the villages, which is a shame as the walk is certainly one that I would recommend it has something for everyone, great views, wild life, plant life and of course the slate industries for my husbands interest.
