Campsite - Shadygreen

Hey you guys how is summer going for you all? Just a quick update on the King County fine we are facing and the future of our home here. Long story short we received a "Cease and Desist" letter from the county several months ago. Unless we spent MANY thousands of dollars on wetlands delineation and traffic studies we were to stop having SHADYGREEN get-togethers here. Just to be clear folks we had an 8 seat shuttle bus with 300,000 miles on it that took a 2 mille drive t...o the amphitheater, and they wanted us to spend thousands of dollars on a "TRAFFIC STUDY"? Bottom line is that someome with money wanted to end us and thats what they did. We have complied 100% with the order and have not had a single friend stay here since this letter was given to us but as of now KING COUNTY is still fining us $6000. Esssentially I threw myself on the mercy of the court because I truly believed that the county misunderstood what was happening here. I thought that once we explained to them that we were for the essentially Facebook friends that come together a few times a year and not a full time campground that common sense would prevail but as of now they are burying us. I'm not looking for a "pile on the county" thing here because I know they have their processes and I'm sure they have great people working there but CRAP! REALLY??? Anyhow we really appreciate the love and support we have from so many of you. You people are what made this idea such an awesome thing and I personally wanted to recognize and thank all of you. Not too often I get to see two of my favorite (Shadygreen alumni) bands play in Tacoma. SUN CROW at THE VALLEY and MOM'S ROCKET at JAZZBONES. Busy night and lots of fun.

For any of you who were fortunate enough to see SUN CROW here and don't live too far away, they are playing a show this Saturday in Tacoma. I wake up every day grateful for the talented bands that graced us with their presence here. If you are in the neighborhood of Tacoma. Come check them out !!

Hey you guys I'm just checking in again and thanking everyone for their support but we are not having any more events or parties until we are straight with the county. Keep your ears open cuz you never know. As of right now we are facing a $6,000 fine and haven't even been open since last summer. That said there are single event permits we can get but need to get through this first. Please stay tuned!

We are not going to have any events in June. Sorry just not in the cards. Will keep folks posted for July August and sept.

So I think we are locked in on Aug. 19th for a reunion party. I'm confident we will have more "get togethers" this summer too but if that date is one you are interested in PLEASE join the Shadygreen Refugees group if you havent. In the words of Forrest Gump "That's all I have to say about that".

We are considering a date (or dates) to have a reunion party here this summer. Here are a couple of date ideas. Please post here (and or message) which date or dates you guys would like. Will probably be a majority rule thing. June 9th Aug. 5th Aug. 19th Sept 9th... I know I'm behind on responding to messages and getting everyone into the private group. Well it seems one of our neighbors has complained to the county about Shadygreen. Unfortunately the county is under the impression that we are a full time campground and not just a bunch of friends that get together a few times a year to have a safe fun place to gather. We are in contact with the county to correct this but as of now we have a cease and desist letter. They are requiring many thousands of dollars of studies done. Including traffic studies and many others. Whil...e we straighten this out I highly encourage you to join our private group. This group is for folks that have already stayed here at Shadygreen and is invite only. If you have stayed with us before please message us privately here with your name and when you stayed so we can get you into the group. RIP Shadybus. Although many amazing times have happened on the Shadybus. It was time to say goodbye. As most of you know she was a little undersized for the Job. (BTW thank you Dennis H and the first family of SHADYGREEN for the AWESOME graphics you sent us for Christmas. It says "I survived the Shadybus" If you ever have riden it when it was full you know thats a TRUE statement. Maybe we will get some shirts made up). The bus went to Shadygreen's newest friend Mike who tragically became a quadriplegic last year. He sounds like one amazing and strong person. If you have any pictures from the Shadybus feel free to post them here.

There are some BIG changes coming to SHADYGREEN. That's not hyperbole. For one we are building a recording studio. Our hope isn't to be the biggest or most technologically endowed establishment (we can't afford that) but to create a one of a kind environment where the artists can immerse themselves out here and create one of a kind works of art that really gets at the soul of their music. Our goal is to do what we did with the rest of this place. Make it something better th...an the sum of its parts. If you've been here you know what I mean. Secondly, because of the level of attention we have drawn this last season we are making some changes. Step one will be to create a Facebook group of previous Shadygreeners. We will eventually be stepping away from this public page. This will be a deliberate process with plenty of notification so if you have any interest in staying part of the Shadygreeners community please make sure you join our private FB group. We may open for Evergreen Fest after all. Nothing huge but a laid back place to camp and possibly to jam.

Thanks everyone for another great season! Thanks too to PROPHETS OF RAGE camping folks and HALL AND OATS campers. This place was spotless after two back to back events. I know some of you cleaned up after others so THANK YOU. Thanks also to our new friend Seth. And to all of our new friends and old ones we re-conneted with. Thanks to the bands that played here as well. You guys rocked this place for sure! We are NOT going to open for Evergreen Fest next week. Wasn't in the cards I guess.
