We have been trying to fit in a bit of fun now the summer season has finished. We have visited the beautiful town of Monpazier, done some lovely walks near home, swam in the river at Caïx, and had a great day by the lake at Montcuq. It’s nice to be able to relax a bit and enjoy the area again after the busy summer!
Cycling or walking along the many quiet paths near here is lovely. We did a route the other day and passed a ‘source’ (where water comes up through the rocks even in the middle of the drought we’re having) and Cosmo took a swim with some goldfish there! (They were introduced years ago by an old neighbour and are still doing ok!)
I took our boys to the Lac Vert at Catus yesterday and met up with friends there. It was a lovely afternoon out. They never get tired of pédalos!
Finally, our sheep are shorn! Just in time for 34 degree heat!
I started cycling to school with my son when school reopened and just wish I had started doing it sooner! I keep having to stop and take pictures, it is so pretty and peaceful. The meadow in front of the tents looks very green for this time of year after two big thunderstorms and good downpours of rain. It’s getting hot again next week, in time for our next guests.
We are so happy to be welcoming our first guests of the year today! We gave them a little something special to celebrate. They have the place to themselves and lovely weather is forecast. We hope they have a wonderful and relaxing stay.
We came across these little guys nesting near the tents when we we lifted the lid to switch on the water! Luckily they were chirping away happily still later, so I don’t think we upset them too much. They look ready to fly away soon.
Out on a bike ride with my son at the weekend. We just had to stop and take in the peacefulness. We Love it here so much.
Homeschooling took a different turn this week. Learning how to fit a new fuel filter to the tractor and training for a summer job!
The meadow in front of the tents is so full of flowers at this time of year. It is very beautiful. Simple things help to raise the morale a little.
Spring time in Augié, bringing us a little joy and hope.
We are finding our daily routines with our animals and some new additions are helping to keep us sane during this period of confinement. Like everyone out there, we are finding it hard adjusting to this new reality. We are grateful and appreciative of the outside space we have here, when so many can’t get out. Sending love, strength and good health to you all in these difficult times ahead. Xxxx
Le Pont Valentré in Cahors. A beautiful afternoon to walk around town.
