You just never know what you're going to see at Wabasis. On Monday, this Billy goat and his dog friend wandered in for a visit. After they both received lots of ear scratches, their Dad came looking for them. We enjoyed their company!
We are starting to see some signs of fall here at the park. Come enjoy the last days of summer at Wabasis before sweater weather arrives!
Hey campers! Did you ever wonder where we get all that firewood? Each year we lose a number of trees throughout the Kent County Parks to storm damage, safety issues, and other causes. All the good hardwood logs come to Wabasis to be processed into firewood for our campers. This past Friday we had quite a windstorm and sadly lost a few nice trees (Most of the logs pictured are not from the recent storm). The silver lining is that those trees will be enjoyed next summer. We estimate that the damage from Friday will provide fuel for approximately 273 toasty campfires... Hmm, how many marshmallows will we need for that?
Our campground is full this evening, but Wabasis is also a perfect spot for a day trip. Fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, etc. - a fee free option for everyone!
The enclosed shelter is looking great today. We really miss all the beautiful weddings and parties that should be happening right now. We will be ready to host as soon as we are able!
If you are looking for a secluded place for hiking or horseback riding, visit our sister parks Cooper Creek/Spencer Forest and White Pine. The trails were cleared yesterday for easier access!
Anybody recognize this sweet pooch? He/She was found wandering around in our primitive camping area. No tags. Edit: owner has been found!
Wednesday on the water after the rain. At Wabasis, every day is Saturday.
DON'T FORGET to bring a mask with you to our parks!
The turtles have been busy laying eggs this week. They would love to see you this weekend! We're pretty booked up for Friday but we do have a few sites departing Saturday. Please call the campstore to check availability. (616) 691-8056
Power is restored here at Wabasis! Thanks for your patience!
Unfortunately, the power outage has not been resolved. We continue to monitor the Consumers Energy website. Currently, the estimated restoration time is 11:45pm.
