Have a wander around our lovely village and pick up some bargains this morning!
When you stop to say hi to the alpacas and are made to feel as though you’ve turned up at party without a bottle
Rude not to if you’re staying here!!!
COVID CHANGES - Please read We’re so pleased to be open again and welcoming familiar and new faces to the site. We have inevitably been through some changes though! Bookings have gone crazy! And I mean phone ringing from 7.30am-10.30pm crazy! PLEASE BOOK EARLY AS WE HAVE LIMITED PITCHES!!!!... PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU NO LONGER NEED THE BOOKING AS WE ARE TURNING LOTS OF PEOPLE AWAY!!!! TOILETS ARE NOW ALLOCATED to specific pitches or groups who need them. Anyone who has not been allocated one cannot use them. This drastically reduces the chance of cross contamination but there are ONLY 4 TOILETS so they book up fast. Great news if you have your own loo, it’s much easier to book you in. Most of our sharing areas have gone for this season sadly. So no toy box, shared caravan, chairs etc. Also no washing up sink as this is at our back door and we’re still shielding an elderly relative. FIRE PITS STILL AVAILABLE and LOADS OF FIREWOOD!! Please don’t forget a little cash to donate to Dorothy House Hospice in return for wood. Enhanced cleaning including water taps as you’d expect. Lastly, we have moved towards CONTACTLESS PAYMENT so when you book we’ll send a link to pay. (We can add wood donation to this.) Sorry, not quite as easy to come here as it used to be but it’s still as relaxed on site as possible. We’re all in this together and I know our campers want to stay as safe as we do so I hope you understand the changes we’ve made. Look forward to seeing you soon, Liz, John and the boys xx
Very excited! These two tiny quails (Honey and Marmite) born on 5th May have turned out to be a boy and girl and clever little Honey has laid her first eggs! Hopefully by next season we’ll have a little flock again!
Well, we’re open! Fab to see some returning customers for our first night. We’re booking up fast as we’re restricting the numbers using our toilets. CALL OR MESSAGE TO BOOK, we can’t take anyone not booked, sorry. So come and laugh at me in PPE! In my first COVID toilet clean I managed to spring a tap fitting and flood the floor, break the mop and couldn’t see a thing as my glasses steamed up when I breathed in the mask also, effectively wearing a plastic bag over my clothes should have me looking like a supermodel by the end of the season!!
Yay! If you can’t get a table, the takeaways have been awesome right through lockdown and you can even takeaway draught beers.
From 4th July we are trialling a brand new takeaway menu - here are the details so far! Can’t wait to have our kitchen open again! We have missed our chef, Mark!
Bob the chicken has outgrown Honey and Marmite the quails now and they are learning to be friends!
Sorry folks. If you’re booked with us there’s no need to call to cancel. We hope we’ll hear from you next year to book for 2021. So sad but inevitable. Stay safe xx
We are one week old today and are called Honey and Marmite. Like all babies, we love cuddling our bear at night!
Finally births on site! Sadly we lost the last of our quails a couple of weeks ago when a fox tried to get in to the cage and frightened them all to death early one morning. We grabbed the handful of eggs from the cage and today these little fluff balls hatched in the incubator. As you can see, about half the height of an egg cup
Light pruning I said... LIGHT PRUNING!
Well, we’ve started the annual task of reclaiming the campsite from nature! So late this year because of the weather and we really don’t know whether our fields will be filled with the laughter of happy campers this season or not, we shall have to wait and hope. It was so easy to forget the madness as I mowed today, under the hills that have witnessed so much but never times like this. Stay safe friends, we hope to see you soon xx
