This week we celebrated Indigenous People’s Day. Formerly known as Columbus Day. History, sadly, is far too often told from the view of those who wrote it. Who conquered those before them. Who assimilated cultures into their own. Who relocated social groups to make space, not peace. When we allow more voices to tell history’s story, history itself is strengthened. It’s expanded. It’s inclusive. And most importantly, it’s informative. Not just for today, but for genera...tions to come. The spirit of this season is to bare witness to those indigenous communities whose heritage walked these lands and bathed in these waters long before Columbus arrived. To take note of rich tradition and deep contribution. In these waters, run our own complicated history. Long before Utahns and Idahoans, there were homesteaders and Mormon pioneers. Before them? The Shoshone - a diverse nomadic tapestry of tribes who hunted, gathered, and convened along Boa Ogoi, or the Bear River. The expansion of faith and farming led to one of the largest Native American massacres in the West - over 250 men, women, and children murdered one cold Winter morning. While we cannot change the past, it is our responsibility to understand it. To learn from it. To act with it in mind. The Shoshone, however, are not defined alone by this tragedy. As we speak, an inspiring Cultural and Interpretive Center is still underway just miles down river. Visit the link below to learn how you can support that cause. Today, citizens in Utah have the chance to see a Shoshone tribal leader Darren Parry on the ballot for congressional district one. This is what marrying our past with our future looks like. https://boaogoi.org
Aquatic Tai Chi tonight! Experimentation is inherently uncomfortable. Discomfort, however, is how we earn our inheritance as living, breathing, evolving Human beings. With each step we take into the unknown, we are gifted knowledge. About ourselves, our talents, and most importantly, our potential. ... Last year, the lovely Lin Ostler led many of us on our first journey into Aquatic Tai Chi, a collaborative experiment of ours. The result? Well, it's best experienced first hand. Join us tonight at 5pm, before or after your soaking session, to take a swim on the wild side. Explore our calendar to join this or other safe, outdoor experiments soon! https://www.maplegrovesprings.com/calendar #explore #maplegrovehotsprings #exploreidaho #travelphotography #hotsprings #weekendgetaway #yurtlife #yurt #cabinlife #cabin #fishing #bnb #hotel #camping #glamping #minerals #travel #wanderlust #restoration #optoutside #getoutstayout #nature #adventure #hotspring #onlyinidaho #tetons #yellowstone #hotsprings #mineralwater
Seasonal change calls for tradition, and like most traditions, some we love, some we hate, but most we really really need as Humans. One of our most important, and possibly least favorite is the taking down of our 6 Canvas nests. Not only is it a mad dash of re-designing our entire property while the good weather lasts, it's also the symbolic winding down of longer days and warmer weather. ... The process is only possible with all hands on deck - Taking apart and moving custom wood day beds, bedding, and furnishings. Meticulously washing, drying, prepping, and storing the Canvas. In the wake of this movement, however, comes something we have grown to miss - The Group Yurt and the season of small, safe, intimate gatherings it brings forth. So, with our Canvas units now wrapping up for the year, we ease into a fresh state of being. A reminder that behind every change is exactly that, change. Thanks to @sooz_stever for capturing Canvas 1-3 in their blissful blanket of colors. Our Group Yurt is now accepting bookings up through Jan 5th. #explore #maplegrovehotsprings #exploreidaho #travelphotography #hotsprings #weekendgetaway #yurtlife #cabinlife #cabin #fishing #bnb #airbnb #hotel #camping #glamping #minerals #travel #wanderlust #retreatyourself #retreats #workshops #yurt See more

Hey! We are actively looking for a heating, chimney, and or wood stove expert to hire and help us tighten up our chimneys on our two yurts! Any local Preston, Logan, Soda Springs leads would be amazing!
Our design philosophy is based on an inescapable truth - Nothing Humans create can outsmart, outlast, outgrow, or simply jaw drop like the Natural world. It is, however, possible to pay tribute to the wild world within which we must create. So, in our view, if a Human space must exist, let it be simply designed, naturally built, and very thoughtfully placed. ... #explore #maplegrovehotsprings #exploreidaho #travelphotography #hotsprings #weekendgetaway #yurtlife #yurt #cabinlife #cabin #fishing #bnb #hotel #camping #glamping #minerals #travel #falleaves #restoration #optoutside #getoutstayout #nature #adventure #hotspring #onlyinidaho #tetons #yellowstone #hotsprings #mineralwater #design See more
Guests often ask "What is there to do, aside from the hot springs?" Our most honest answer? "Absolutely nothing. " In our experience, that is the hardest thing for people to let themselves do. ... But of course, for those who make it out of the hammock, we also mention the hiking, biking, kayaking, paddle boarding, bird watching, trail running, river rafting, and more. Whatever you need to do, or need to not do, we seem to have most folks covered. Thanks @haleyscute for capturing the art of doing nothing so brilliantly. As the Humans holding space here at Maple, a magic happens that we often can't explain. Thanks @madisongroeninger, our Host, for finding words for a feeling that letters often fall far below. "Fall arrived quickly & gracefully around here. I keep telling everyone that this is what I’ve been waiting for. Ever since we arrived here in a whirlwind back in May and took up living and working full time on this spectacular grounds, I have been waiting. I have been waiting fo...r the fall weather...cool crisp mornings brought in with steam rising slowly across the grounds, bursting colors that appear more vivid by the day, a slight breeze playing through my hair as I soak in our hot mineral waters. I’ve been waiting for this. And now that it’s here, I am grasping onto it for dear life. As I see the trees drop their leaves, my heart pinches because I don’t want it to slip away so fast. I find myself soaking in the hot pools multiple times a day. I sit outside on the patio just to stare at the colors. I stop on my drive in & out of the canyon to take pictures and try desperately to imprint the images in my memory. Fall has always been my favorite season. I feel safe in the cooling weather, the warming colors, the cozy clothes & a steaming hot drink to wake me up. These colors won’t last long. As I type this, the leaves are shriveling up and dropping to the ground. But what they represent...a decaying of old life in order to bring new...well that representation is all around us. Maple was reborn just 1.5 years ago. To speak of the love, care, soul, sweat and tears that has built this place back up into what it is today, is to speak of all of the wonderful people that saw that potential and simply [not really simply at all] made it happen. I struggle to express my gratitude for this place & it’s people often. Words never seem enough. So I take comfort in knowing that beauty comes in waves. Our favorites probably wouldn’t be our favorites if they were always here. And in order for new growth & life, some things need to decay or end. We leave here in November and my heart is already breaking imagining it. What an amazing journey it has been. See more
THANK A TEACHER GIVEAWAY!! Monday's now look so different than before. For some, the classic school drop off and sprint to work has been replaced by a new scramble of stay at home school and distracting home office. ... For others, it's been a return to "normal" without anything being normal. We may now be in offices and classrooms but what we experience inside those spaces is likely a new frontier. We see it. We feel it. We deal with it. And right now, our teachers are right in the middle of it. So, as we enter into a new chapter called Fall, let us be kind to those adapting along with us. Patient for those tasked to keep us moving along as a community. Celebratory of those helping not just us, but our kids, navigate this year. To that end, we are giving away a night for up to 4 in our cabin Pine for a nominated teacher who deserves a moment to rest and recharge. To nominate a teacher, simply [email protected] mention them in the comments - let them know how you feel! Winner will be randomly chosen on Wed at 5. #explore #maplegrovehotsprings #exploreidaho #travelphotography #hotsprings #weekendgetaway #yurtlife #yurt #cabinlife #cabin #fishing #bnb #hotel #camping #glamping #minerals #travel #wanderlust #restoration #optoutside #getoutstayout #nature #adventure #hotspring #onlyinidaho #tetons #yellowstone #hotsprings #mineralwater See more
Guests always ask "When is the best time to visit?" We always respond "Right now!" But seriously. ... Thanks @haleyscute for capturing Maple in her Fall finest. Someone once gave us a 1 star review for not allowing alcohol on our land. All without ever visiting our space and witnessing what that small guideline preserves. As the Humans behind this business, we personally enjoy the occasional drink like any other. But we believe there is a time and place for most things, and that the experience here at Maple calls for something distinct. It calls for quiet conversations between healing friends. The laughter of a grandmother sh...aring stories with her posterity. The cry of a co-worker confessing just how hard this year has been. A safe place for kids to run wild and free. A predictable pace for a fathers last battle with cancer. A restful sleep free from outside disruption. A grounded morning full of memory, health, and presence. Unfortunately, 100% of the times when those moments have been interrupted, which we can count on 3 fingers, alcohol has been involved. While our belief is that wellness is not rooted in abstinence, but rather balance, we still have some work to do as a community to find that rhythm. And so, as stewards of this space, we continue to err on the side of peace, predictability, and safety. Whether you are joining our shores for an hour, a night, or a week, you can bank on this community showing up to hold that space for you, your friends, and your family. We know it isn't always easy but cheers to all of you for trusting the experience and proving that it can be. Photo: @rebecca_brenner and her family, doing what families do best. And then, a moment of natural perfection unfolds. And you realize you are small, yet part of something big. Something natural. Something you can almost touch but fail to grasp. A starry blanket that is always there becomes visible, as if unveiled for the first time. For a night. ... We watch it shoot and flicker. Light up and fade away. It makes us think about the future. The past. The known and unknown. We can't peel away. It makes us think yet removes thought. In the morning, we lose sight of it, yet it is still there. But do we remember that? When we look up in the day, do we see what we know is there? What would days on Earth be like if we could all simply remember how that blanket makes us feel at night? We think brighter. Not darker. #explore #maplegrovehotsprings #exploreidaho #travelphotography #hotsprings #weekendgetaway #yurtlife #yurt #cabinlife #cabin #fishing #bnb #hotel #camping #glamping #minerals #travel #wanderlust #restoration #optoutside #getoutstayout #nature #adventure #hotspring #onlyinidaho #tetons #yellowstone #hotsprings #mineralwater See more
Around here, what you see is what you get. And right now, what you get is an entire river valley exploding with color. How long will it last? That has always been one of Mother Nature's greatest secrets. This time last year If you’re like us, you utter this phrase almost daily to both ground you in comfort and shock you into awareness of just how wild this chapter of collective life has been. Today, like many of you, we are still working to rebuild our patio after the winds ravaged our shores. Lights, logs, trees and more all took flight with no intention to return. So while our team rebuilds, we couldn’t help but reflect on this time last year.... We were in total awe hosting Creative Wyld, one of the first workshops on our land. Facilitated by @jaineedial and her @wyldergoods community for over 40 creative entrepreneurs and makers, it was, in a way, the inauguration of our space. All of our corners were brought to life in a way we had only dreamed of - waterfront meditations, late night patio dinners with farm to table feasts, yurt-based workshops, poolside discoveries, and a collective joy that likely still reverberates for each and every participant. But it’s not last year, it’s today. And we have two choices. The easy one - to feel discouraged when day dreaming of our better times past. Or the hard one. The tiring one. The one that requires energy from places we forgot we even had. To feel excited about how to make this new world we inhabit even better when all the rebuilding is done.
